North Shore Stay ▶︎
Hello there! Hope you are having a productive and happy week! Did you have a good January? I can not believe it's February already, and it's also my birthday month! Hooray for chocolate birthday cake, and/or cupcakes, and I guess we all have to appreciate that we made it another year, right? Good way to look at it...
Well, I sure am relaxed and energized since we got back from our stay at the cabin in Grand Marais, MN. It was such a nice time, as usual! It was only a three day stay, but hey, I will take it. Any extra time in the wilderness with the beautiful trees and snow falling... yup. I can always use more thinking time and business ideas.
This is the restaurant... great food! |
I wanted to share a few pics that I took, as maybe someday you will get the urge to stay up north in these cozy, adorable cabins and resorts.
The Cascade Lodge is located on HWY 61 and overlooks beautiful Lake Superior. It has been entertaining and relaxing people since 1927. It was peacefully snowing when we arrived, which was amazing... that means skiing or snowshoeing. This area has so much to offer if you love the outdoors and sports. Unfortunately, it was too cold this time to do anything outdoors. Sad face. Anyways, if you wander down to the lodge, you will find economical rooms to stay in, games rooms, ski rentals, or just sitting around around and making new friends. It also has its own award-winning restaurant/pub where they have excellent handcrafted meals and/or alcohol beverages, if you don't feel like cooking in your cabin... us most of the time, haha!
Each standard cabin has a fireplace and kitchenette. We always love cabin #10... (believe me, if you stay there enough, it happens)! They are not the biggest cabins (unless you rent the biggest cabin, we have before). That cabin fits like 6-8 people, features a jacuzzi and has an amazing wrap around deck that overlooks the creek. No biggie. It's gorgeous if you have that many people to split the cost. Otherwise, the standard cabins are perfect and never fails to make you feel at home.
If you drive North another 10-15 minutes, you will arrive in Grand Marais. It's the cutest, most coziest town EVER! You feel like you are in another area of the world. NO lie! And the people are so lovely and welcoming. And, if you drive a little further, I believe an hour or so, you will arrive at the Canadian border. We have yet to visit there... another time for sure.
So, while we drove to Grand Marais mostly everyday, and we decided to stop and visit their local brewery, Voyageur Brewing Company. Wouldn't you? :) It opened up about a year ago, and they handcraft their beers with local ingredients. It's all about shopping local folks. The nice owner gave a tour, and we tried many amazing beers, all very distinct and delicious. Their beers are available in several stores, restaurants and bars--they are expanding very nicely. We were there on an off-day, so that's why there are no people... don't be fooled, I believe it's pretty packed when they are open.
Here's more info on this amazing brewery... check it out! P.S. I love all the decor, but especially the rock tap handles.
This is a very quick little trip if you need to get away for a few days. Nature is truly beautiful and enables life to be put back into perspective. At times, we are too busy to enjoy the small things, and we don't know if those moments will arise again. I realized how short life is and the importance of appreciating everyone and everything around us.
This is Zoeie Jane that gladly went with us... she loves these mini-trips too. :) Where have you been recently? I would love to hear...
